About Iron Bridge Hounds
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.
Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club (IBHPC) was established more than two decades ago. Our members range in age from 6 - 25 years old and have many different interests. With safety and fun, we are committed to teaching our pony clubbers solid horsemanship and riding.
IBHPC members participate in mounted and unmounted lessons. During the spring and summer months, members can attend weekly mounted meetings to increase their riding skills, learn teamwork and sportsmanship, and prepare for the rallies. We also hold a camp for one or two weeks during the summer. In addition to lessons, campers relax with bareback trail rides, crafts, and swimming. In the winter months, members meet weekly for unmounted lessons. During this time, they gain valuable horse management knowledge and also prepare for the Quiz rally competition.
Most of our lessons are held in Sandy Spring, Maryland. Members need access to a suitable pony or horse and transportation to participate in mounted lessons.
USPC Pony Clubs and Riding Centers are assigned to one of 41 geographical regions, which are administered by a volunteer Regional Supervisor (RS) and other appointed and elected officers. Regions offer additional activities and opportunities for members and support for the club and center leaders under their administration.
Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club is part of the Maryland Region.
